Aviva car insurance renewal..total mess

my wife's car insurance quote from Aviva came this week and the premium went up by about £50 from last year...the problem is the renewal quote states that the 5 years no claim discount is not protected!! her premium with Aviva last year was £50 cheaper with no NCD protection. I phoned Aviva today and they said they cant protect the NCD this year because we contacted them in may regarding a dent in the passenger door after parking in a supermarket car park. Although we decided not to proceed with the claim on the same day and they reassured us that no claim will be recorded, they say now that they cant protect the NCD because of that phone call i made in may...what shall i do ?any advice please...this really seems unfair

When dealing with any contractual matters over the phone which could need substantiating later, you should make sure you get anything like this in writing. (Especially with this outfit)

If you still want to remain with them, then ask them (in writing) to reinstate your protection as you have not used up your protection "claim lives". If they refuse, then escalate the matter via their complaints procedure.
