Nationwide cash cards now Plus (not Link)?

Just received my cash card for my Nationwide CashBuilder account (opened solely for the purpose of getting a building society cheque without a fee).
Looked at the card and it is branded with the Plus logo (i.e. Visa's cash machine network). No Link logo anywhere on the card. Also features a chip on the front.
Back states "This is NOT a debit card, credit card or cheque guarantee card. It can only be used in UK ATMs or at Nationwide Branches."
Seemed strange to me that the card wasn't being branded as Link?

many card issuers don't bother to put the link logo on their cards nowadays, but rest assured, it will operate through link.0

Is that not a Debit card then? You said it features a chip? Strange if not?0

Says it isn't a debit card on the backStudentOfBusiness wrote: »Is that not a Debit card then? You said it features a chip? Strange if not?
Chip does seem strange, but ATMs do read the chip so probably just for extra security.0 -
So, this new CashCard+ is not a debit card?
It says on their website, and I was told by a man from Nationwide that can pay for goods over internet, chip and pin in shops etc...0 -
This is CashBuilder (0.1% savings account), not the CashCard+.StudentOfBusiness wrote: »So, this new CashCard+ is not a debit card?

I thought Cashbuilder accounts got a Visa debit card (CashCard+) also?I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0

indeed, all ATMs authenticate with the chip for cash withdrawals, it can also be used with CAP readers for internet banking (if Nationwide so desired it to be possible)0 -
You cannot have a debit card with Casbuilder. I had to change to a Flex account to get round this.Never Knowingly Understood.

Put the card into an HSBC machine today. Came up on the screen as "LINK ATM". Not sure why they have put the Plus feature on the card as every UK ATM is Link anyway?0
