I personally did not work for the NHS, I did however work for the MoD and considering my experience and pay at the time I was able to negotiate a level of pay which was acceptable to me. I did this after interview as you are normally interviewed by people associated with the job role and HR but not the people who sign off the salaries.
Hope you get the job!A big thank you to all comping posters!! :T0 -
It is possible to negotiate higher than the bottom of the scale (I have been sucessful in doing this before), you will more than doubtedly end up trying to negotiate this with the HR department, and the only guidance given to those in HR is to follow what the dept. hiring you suggest, so it is the department you'd be working for that you would need to convince.
However, you need to be able to demostrate experience and qualifications (formal education and CPD)
It might also be difficult currently given current economic climate, as I'm sure budgets will be streatched.0 -
They did request you to state your current salary on the application which i thought must be for some reason, as i have never had to do this for any private sector job. I might contact the payroll dept in the hospital anonymously and ask.0
