Hiya :-)

Recently upgraded Dell Dimension 1100 from integrated to GeForce8400GS ... fantastic, plus got 1gig ram upgrade fitted also ... large games couldn't play before are no problem, but what's surprising is some smaller games I could play don't run, lol! IRQ NOT LESS OR EQUAL BSOD, after getting into the menu, but soon as hit 'play' exits to desktop.

I'd disabled the integrated graphics, so is it as simple as enable that in order to play any little games that don't run? (BIOS is set to 'auto' anyway).

I'd installed PhysX for a large game ... have read in other contexts that sometimes switching that off works?

Cheers, Cat

Starting with the obvious question: have you installed the latest device driver for the new card - not the one from the CD that came with it, but the latest, directly from the maker's support website?

Hi, I did update it directly, but graphics totally went weird so rolled back the update. Will try now again.

    Many thanks, Cat

    Hiya

updated driver and can't display more than Lowest (4 bit) and 640 x 480 pixels ... this is what I recall happened before, when I had updated the driver ... and I can't display the nvidia control panel ... error message of display panel extension can't be created, possible reasons are version mismatch, reinstalling display drivers may solve the problem.

Have rolled back driver again, as from looking around, it may be a hardware conflict? Will try enabling integrated for little games that don't run.

Maybe they have broken something in the latest release...

Might be worth going to the Beta and Archived download section and trying a couple of older driver package releases (e.g. 256 and 197) then?
