Spray Tanning

Hi guys

Can I pick your brains? I am quite a fair person and have highlighted blonde hair. Originally I have booked to have a spray tan next week to see how I like it, and then have booked my 'wedding spray tan' the thursday before i get married on the Saturday.

But, i'm chickening out. I'm quite a fair coloured person and not sure I should really do the spray tanning. I don't agree with sunbeds, so wont do those.

Am now just wondering whether anyone had good recommendations for a moisturiser with tanning agent in it. I was thinking if I could build it up over the next 8 weeks....I'd much rather that. Plus I'm not sure I want to do proper fake tan as i don't want this to rub off on my dress.

Just wanted some recommendations really and to see what other people think? I am having my make up done professionally so not too worried about that. To be honest, maybe I'm worrying about nothing because my dress will cover most of body, except my arms and upper chest!!!

xx

Why not see how you like the spray before you decide whether or not to go with it?

Your wedding is still a bit away. You can always give the Holiday Skin moisturisers a go (often sold in 99p stores etc)

Ah, sorry, I missunderstood your doubts!
I still think you might as well give it a go.
Don't worry about being embarrassed - they've seen it all (and more) before!

I felt like that the first time I had a spray tan done (and I really hate my body, even my OH doesn't see me naked that often...), and the girl told me not to worry as she'd seen it all before! She was really friendly and put me at ease and it was fine. It doesn't really take that long, and you have to stand there a bit longer before you get dressed so it's dry, but after that it didn't rub off on anything.

If you do go for it for the day, I'd have it done a day or two before hand so any excess tan has a chance to be washed off when you shower, so all that's left for your big day is the lovely golden colour! :)

  • Hi

I work as a spray therapist and just to give you my view.
I honestly see so many people in there underwear or naked I barely even notice anymore! so really dont be embarased. You can choose to wear-

    swimming bikini
    bra and knickers
    knickers only
completely naked- alot of people actually choose this!!

Also RE the build up tanners I have always found they stain your fingers/knuckles and also as you are building it up every day and then showering it tends on me to rub of on different areas more then others meaning you get patchy ect.

A spray tan will be sprayed onto you and withing a couple of minutes it will be dry - now this can rub off if you lie down ect so I would recommend have it done in the morning 10am ish and then wash off about 6. Alot of people advise overnight but this is when fair people run into problems of it streaking a little bit. ( I am ver fair and it never streaks when i wash it off before bed.)

I would say go for it and if you are unhappy then use the build up stuff, but i promise you the build up is alot more hassle then standing there for a few minutes and then being a little bit careful where you sit for 8 hours, then every day having to apply, and wash hands throughly ect.

Good luck with what you choose! xx
  • this migh be a silly question- but i never had a spray tan before- and i worry that it will come off on my wedding dress- espcially when i sweat and around my bust!

I use johnsons holiday skin moisturiser and have never had any problems with streakiness or patchiness. Im not saying it doesnt happen, but just not to me. I think they have a few "strengths" and one particularly for fair skin.

I applied it nightly from about a week before the wedding i was attending (with a bit of help from the OH to do my back!) Didnt find it on the sheets or anything, and it was a very gradual build up, i just stopped when i was happy with the colour.

  • Hi Cara I think its totally a personal choice you need to try it to see what you think, I had one a few weeks ago and quite honestly didnt like it at all! Im quite dark anyway and did honestly look like I had been tangoed!! Plus my Other half is so fair I would have looked like a shiney orange blimp stood next to him so on the wedding pics! so a no for me!!! However it hasnt put me off I would have another one just maybe a different brand or shade next time. I am however staying aunaturel for the wedding Sally xxx

Not silly at all! Basically the brand I use ( fake bake ) It has a dye that goes onto the skin so the therapist can see it going on and so there is no white patches missed. This is the only reason for the colour at first ( as you know you can get tans that dont have this , and it goes one like a cream and you cant see the colour ). This is the only bit that can be rubbed onto items so once it has washed off ( the colour develops underneath) you are left with a tan. The bits you see washing away in the shower is just the dye that is used. So once you have throughly washed this off, it wont come off onto your clothes, even white!

As for looking tangoed, i have been into a few salons where they use one colour suits all. We have different strenghts and always have a consultation with the client to find out there desired colour. Any salon that offers one colour, i personally would not use.

I would ring a few different salons, find out which tan they use, how it is applied and if they have different strenghts, and even better if you can get any recommendations of your friends :)

    hope this helps ! x
