Barclaycard credit card fraud ( advice needed

Morning all,

Logged into my Barclaycard account this morning to check as i do every couple of days and got the shock of my life. A pending transaction for £528.07 whatchutalkingabout_smile.gifcry_smile.gif

Immediately rang Barclaycard who cancelled the card and said that i have to phone back on the 17th to dispute the transaction, they can't do anything until then as it is still pending. She could tell me it was for Easyjet air at a travel agency tours and travels angry_smile.gif

The woman didn't seem too worried about my concerns and said that they will look into it once disputed to see if i can get my money back.

I am now terrified that i will be made to pay this amount, nothing like this has ever happened to me before on a credit card so i have no idea how long it takes. What happens once the £528.07 becomes an actual transaction? will i have to pay it when my bill arrives in a few days? i cannot afford to pay it outright.

Any advice i would be really grateful?

Firstly, Calm down-if it was done on interent you won't be obliged to pay it.

They will issue you a new card

    Send out a disclaimer declaration

Apply the credit to your account if it is debited.

To speed up the process you could call easy jet and advise about the fraud transaction, they may simply cancel the flights and not process the payment (this is what I would do)

Sorry, can i just ask something.

There were in fact 3 transactions, one for £491.07, to lowcostholidays. Easyjet at £36 and £1 for a hotel it would seem.

Today one of the transactions the one for £491.07 hit my account, and it said it that it was a telephone/mail order transaction.

INT1, you said that if it was done on the internet i won't be obliged to pay, does that also apply if it was done over the phone/mail order too????

How do these people manage to get my details when i am so careful, i shred everything. It makes me feel sick.

Don't worry in the least little bit !

ANY transaction that you think is fraudulent is NO problem. Just tell the card issuer and let them sort it out - it is their money after all - NOT yours!

If it appears on your statement DO NOT pay it.

    Simples !

Yes you are protected against fraud if it is done (Card not present)

They have probably got hold of your card details when you have used it in the past, maybe online etc

    All sorted :D
I sent the dispute forms back on the 19th by Special Delivery and today when i logged into my account the £527.07 was back in my account.

Despite the Indian call centre nightmare i thought that was pretty good going of Barclaycard, money refunded within 4 days of them getting my forms.

Can't begin to say how relieved i am.:j

    Pleased for you.

Only once had my card cloned and Natwest was a bit of a nightmare for me. Impressive at first, after they had spotted it very quickly, but then went downhill and took about a month to sort out and I had to chase them up.

With just about every case involving them, the issue of their disasterous call centers always comes up.

Atrocious, and seriously we'd be here all day and night if we were to cite every issue we have had with their call centers.
