Caz3121....How did you manage to find those prices for Gatwick? i just looked and the prices were about £66 on the way out in the morning on 05/09/10 and £111 on the way back in the evening on 12/09/10. My preferred airport is Stansted but i'd happily go to Gatwick for those prices.
stupidly I had the wrong return date
are you flexible on the return as the STN-BCN-STN flight is £183 coming back the Sun night but £117 coming back the Monday - you could have an extra day and the £132 saving would cover accomodation etc0 -
YAY!!!!! Managed to get the cruise for £828pp with the picture window cabin, am well and truly chuffed with this now. Thanks for all the imput guys but would still be interested to know how well we'll be doing with £1000 spending money.0

OK with NCL no chance on board to upgrade so forget it.
if I have the dates correct it is
NCL JADE BCN 5th Sept 12 Sept
Cruise only,
NCL UK price for this in an EE is £679 (without tips) ia a TA want more tell them its cheaper direct.
NCL US price is £554 on the same basis. A US TA will reduce this.
NO balconies so Ocean view it is. I would look a G £100pp cheaper UK(£515 us).
There are loads left so you can pick rather than go GTY.
Need to do your own flights and transfers and it is not looking cheap for those dates.
If traveling the same day make sure you get an early flight and have backup or you do risk missing the ship if there are flight issues, BA were a good option and the early flight used to be cheapish..0 -
Forgot to tell you that booking a guarantee would increase your chances of getting an upgrade, as it's easier to move people who haven't been allocated a cabin than it is to move people who have chosen their cabin.
£1000 for both of you should be enough spending money.
Have a look at NCL's pricing for excursions - some of them aren't too bad. If it's only a bit dearer then consider using them for the "ship won't leave without" you peace of mind. I think in Rome the port is about an hour or more away from Rome itself.
We found out when we were there that the tour providers working for NCL have to check back in and let the ship know they have dropped their passengers back - that's why the ship knows not to leave.
We didn't see any 'runners' but as Alaska has quite a lot of older travellers on board maybe they were taking less risks at getting onboard at the last minute.
We're 40 ( cruise was my 40th present) but there are all ages on board.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19
Balance 19th April '07 = minus £27,640
Balance 1st November '09 = mortgage paid off with £1903 left over. Title deeds are now ours.0 -
BTW, remember to ask the booking agent if there's any 'onboard credit' available.. last time i did that they gave us $100 each. It's often what they can do if they won't drop the price0

We have always found that a US TA will get the better price, and then you sort your own flights. Pay by CC though to be covered for the unexpected(strikes etc!) and get good insurance.0
