Browser settings for cnmbook?

I have a cnmbook and I can´t connect to wi fi connections. The wi fi´s are not encrypted and I get excellent signal quality. Unfortunately when I try to browse I get a message telling me that the page cannot be displayed and advising me to adjust the browser settings. I´ve had a look in the settings section of the internet connection in the drop-down but cannot make any headway. The operating system is Windows CE.
Any advice would be gratefully received. I have looked at the cnm website but couldn´t find anything.
