Hello.
I purchased a pair of professional speakers from a reputable online music retailer a few weeks ago, during the second time of using them both speakers stopped working, i contacted the retailer who arranged to pick them up and look at them.
2 weeks later they advised me that they had blown (due to too much power) i explained that the amplifier i use is no where near enough to blow them, they advised they would send them back to the manufacturers and they would either replace or say it was my fault.
I know it wasn't my fault but i think it is going to be a case of my word against theirs.
Where do i stand?
P.s the speakers cost £310 and were purchased using a credit card
many thanks

Speakers are Behringer B215XL and amp is a Behringer PMP3000 Mixer Amp0
-
any ideas?0

Here's the specs for the speakers: http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/B215XL.aspx
And the mixer: http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/PMP3000.aspx
I'm no audio expert and haven't looked at the detailed specs yet, but the mixer says 2x600W and the speakers are 250W continuous (1000W peak); thus, i'd think it very possible to blow them!0 -
Speakers are 8 ohm, so checking detailed specs - mixer output is 215W x 2, 900W bridged (both rms); 300W x 2, 1200W (both peak).
Thus, you should be fine as long as you'd not running in bridged mode.0 -
Seems the retailer is doing what they can, if the manufacturer also says they've been over-driven then you're only other option is an independent report that says otherwise (and present to retailer, if that fails pursue via Small Claims).
Hope that helps.0 -
Hi
didn't use bridge mode and definately didn't over drive them as was only playing in a small room to about 60 people, if i get no joy from the manufacturer how do i stand in making a chargeback on my credit card as the speakers were not fit for purpose0 -
By all means you can do a credit card chargeback, but the retailer can dispute it. And probably if it incurs them costs when the chargeback isn't warranted pursue you for those costs (can someone confirm?).
Hence, the recommendation to pursue via Sale of Goods Act and get a proper independent report to dispute the retailer & manufacturer's claims.
In all honesty, best course of action at the moment is to wait on the manufacturer to inspect the speakers and give a judgement; else you're just jumping the gun.0 -
I used to work in DJ Store and we had policy that we would replace any Behringer like for like within first month of fault and send faulty back for warranty repair, Some good value products but shocking quality control.
I'm very suprised that as the customer you were warned that the item would not just be replaced or repaired!!
You didnt buy them off decks did you?? :eek:0
