Would a 'secure unit' being behind a house you're interested in buying, put you off?

Hi, just wanted to add my thoughts.
My mum works in a secure unit which is situated near a nice village (and almost next door to the village hall) there is no problems in the area with regards to anti-social behaviour, and the unit itself is hidden away by bushes and trees - so that one probably wouldn't notice it if they didn't know it was there.
It was built just over 10 years ago (give or take) and to my knowledge there have been no issues with house prices or shifting homes (one house almost opposite the entrance to the unit sold within 3 weeks of going on market).
An 'escape' has never occured in the unit, and it should be noted that most of the young people in the unit are there for their own protection rather due to their own behavour.
I doubt it would be an issue0 -
hi
I live very near a 3 unit prison complex. We have never had any trouble here at all. The units are behind trees and have fields on 3 sides, where I walk my dog. They have been here for over 100 years tho, so house prices have probably adjusted by now!
There was a problem a couple of years ago when the units were extended (but still on the same footprint), but now that the work has been done there is very little difference to the local roads/houses and prices didn't seem to change much.
Do you want to say where the unit is? (alunharford already seems to know) and perhaps someone who lives near can help.LBM-2003ish

Just reading through the first post again, and it almost could be the same secure unit that my mum works at. If you PM me the area it's in - if it's the same I'm sure my mum wouldn't mind giving you some insider information, as she herself lives quite near to the unit.0

Immigration? Mental Health? Young Offenders?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
