Lidl Olive Oil

I was in their branch in Cookstown, Co. Tyrone today and noticed an advert for this highly rated oil (that I think is brilliant) at an incredible £1.79 a bottle (that's £1 off the usual price) this Saturday for one day only - don't know if it's UK wide, but I'll try my local branch and if it's not on there, I'll go to Cookstown, buy a load and stash them in the garage.

I've got a miniature bottle of babycham from the 1950's my sweet old gran left me, if ALDI tried to flog me that filled with Olive oil for £1.79 I'd be extremely miffed
Sounds like a good deal but whats the size, what's the £/litre/100ml - the true comparison, bottle means 'nowt0 -
It's a standard 750 ml bottle0

Highly rated? By whom? Their brand of Greek olive oil was good, but they don't sell it any more. Possibly appeared too expensive for their usual customers.
The Spanish and Italian stuff is unremarkable, but no worse than that Filippo Berio and other 'brand name' nonsense.0 -

Thank you for the link, though it goes to show that I'm not wrong. A "delicate oil that's ideal for everyday use" is remarkable only because it was put against oils that "tasted old and rancid" and had an "acidic feel".
But if you do want a "delicate oil that's ideal for everyday use", you can't argue with that price.
My taste buds were brought up on olive oil from an olive farm, so the Primadonna brand is a little bland for my taste.
They also have a 'premium' Italian olive oil in a 500ml bottle. Again, unremarkable to me.
Will try the Aldi brand on the strength of that article.0 -
I use a lot of Olive Oil when cooking so this is a real bargain for me - thanks OP!0

Some posts on these forums do make me smile. For those of us not brought up on olive farms this oil is fine for cooking.0

I saw this in the newsletter and will be getting a couple of bottles, they look really nice to re-use afterwards0

that's an amazing offer! I love their olive oil, and whilst it isn't the peppery dipping sort, it's fab for dressing s and other things, and much better value than other standard similar oils.
thanks OP with the £5 voucher, it's even better value...

The oil was £2.39 in my local in North London so I drove to Netto to buy theirs for £1.89, it's only this price today and tomorrow.0
