Expensive Mistake

We have a shared car park for a number of blocks of flats. I parked my car for the first time in one of the bays last night. Stupidly (on my part) this was one of the housing association bays and my car was towed while i was at work. The charge to release £395.

Do I have any chance of appealing/reducing this? If so whats the best way of doing this? Thanks in advance for any help

Every chance, but you'll probably have to go through the Small Claims Court. Read the many threads on here and have a look a pepipoo (sp), someone with more knowledge than me will be along shortly.

If you paid by CC or Visa Debit you can try a chargeback.

Thanks. I did pay by CC. Having seen martins faq I did write Paid under protest on the signature box of the receipt. Can I instigate a charge back or will it cause me trouble with my card provider?

I would try and do a chargeback if I was you, if they are a private clamping company, you can say to your credit card comp that you paid under duress , if you do go down the small claims court you would need to take both the clampers and landowner to the court in the claim, clampers collect ccj's like a hoodlum collects asbos, they just don't give a monkey!
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

OP, attempt to do a Charge Back and it would help if you could take pictures of the signs in the car park :)
