I'd be inclined to belive your solicitor! Of course it's possible - it's what the OP is planning to do

You may have a physical copy of a 1962 lease but if the seller has since bought the freehold its terms are largely academic.

As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.

Do you know what searches is he waiting on? They are likely with 3rd parties.

I presume this is your sale you are now talking about.

there are a couple of enquires left to deal with and they were due in today he promised my solicitor that it would be finished today .but we are still waiting our buyer is chasing him plus our estate agent and solicitor is there anything we can do our end to get it completed tomorrow i never realised that exchanging contracts was this stress full
  • If everyone is on the poor chap I'd imagine he'd be quite keen to press on. If he knows its a priority he'll get onto it.

If everyone keeps calling him for an update however he'll more than likely not have chance to do anything but field calls. As long as its chased once a day I'd leave it. It wont make the lad work any faster.

My mams house is on a 999 lease and was built in 1964 as well!! her freehold was a lot more expensive, depends on what the solicitors charge i suppose.
