Hello! I just know someone wise here will be able to help me.
I made some passata today with some whoopsied cherry tomatoes. After I sieved it I rinsed the (metal) sieve out, brushed it over with the scrubbing brush and left it until I did a proper wash- up a bit later.
Question: How the heck do I get all the bits out of the sieve?! Each time I wash it I have to re-do it as there are little bits embedded in the mesh. I feel that there must be a professional kitchen trick to get the d@mn things clean- does anyone know how?
Thanks in advance

a running tap, a scrubbing brush and a lot of time.....sorry, no easy method that I know of0

I wash mine as well as poss the let ot dry, then brush it with a dry brush and bang it really hard off the outside wall to dislodge anything that's left. Dry brushing and banging usually gets the most akward of tiny particles out. Not very technical, sorry! :rotfl:It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0

Thanks- I'll try the dry brushing. And banging it against the wall! Anything rather than wash it three times...!They call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.0

This is a bugbear of mine too - only after draining rice - the starch sticks the the mesh. I soak it straight away, but it still seems to have a lot of it clogged up.
Must try it out to see if it works.

Yes I also find the showery end of the tap does the trick well enough. If that doesn't work, the dishwasher is the last resort - that never fails."Remember that many of the things you have now you could once only dream of" - Epicurus0
