  • Hi Laura,

Don't contact muck hall by telephone as there employees are rude, agressive and generally obnoxious. Send the prove it letter first and see what the response is, as they may not be able to prove your OH owes the debt and you therefore pay nothing. If they can prove it, start a full and final settlement offer at about 20% and go from there, but don't pay anything until you've got it in writing the offer is as a full and final settlement to ensure nobody else can come after your OH for the remaining balance. Either type your other halfs name or print the signature as debt collection agencies have been known to copy signatures when they need to!

I concur. I had a letter from them wanting payment for a 20 year old debt. What's more, the debt had gone to court in 1992 and the plaintiff had lost the case!

I tried to explain this to them over the phone (I'm much wiser now, BTW) and it was like trying to walk through treacle.

    Dreadful people, just dreadful.

    Hi Samgirl

I think you might be best starting a new thread. I'd want to take a look at the bigger picture to make sure that you're not going to start paying these people when there might be more important things you should be paying.

Studio were never very good at getting their clients to sign a credit agreement and, even if they did, I suspect it's not been passed on to MH. So it's not likely to be enforceable and therefore very low priority.

They will run through their standard letters - don't get worried by this.

they hound like mad. they sent me a letter saying they were taking me to court for no payment on the account. complete lie of course as they had shown my reduced balance on the letter!! i sharply sent them a reply letter stating this was the 3rd time i am repeating the same thing and pointed out the payment and what i can physically afford a month. not 1 call, email or letter since.

never talk to them on the phone!
