Another car insurance q

Hi

I've just bought a new car today and plan on selling my old one as soon as.

Admiral, my current insurer will hike the premium up on the new car so it's cheaper for me to cancel and take out a new policy with someone else.

I was going to keep the 2 policies running separately until I sell the old car then cancel with admiral.

However I've read that I can't use my no claims on two cars essentially so really I'll need to cancel with admiral now to insure my new car with the NCD leaving the old car uninsured.

Has anyone experienced this or have any advice? I won't be running the old car so really the only risk is fire or theft. Would it be legal for it to be driven as an uninsured car but by someone with fully comp other vehicle 3rd party? (I'm thinking test drives)

Thanks!
