Vet referral fees - what does referring vet get?

Does anyone know whether vets receive a kickback of some kind when they refer their clients to referral vets and how much?

Our vet sent us to a place in Kent which was totally incompetent and yet they don't seem overly concerned about what happened and still seem to intend to send other clients there even though they admit they've had problems with them in the past.

they dont normally get anything. you are more than welcome to ask to be refered to another practice if u are willing to travel.

I get zero pounds from referrals and wont give anything either (I take referrals as well). This is the norm for the profession. Most vets select referral centres on ability and if they are like me then they will stop using someone who is not delivering for their clients - I have swopped orthopaedic surgeons no less than 5 times in 10 years!

Completely agree with simon. We want the best for our clients, and if our clients feel they have been ripped off or poorly treated by the referral vets, then we will (after a couple of incidents) be looking for another referral centre - there's plenty of choice these days. We don't make a penny from referrals.
