Do you have any friends who can help you? Surely, it would just be the school holiday that would be a problem?Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

I cannot win!!!
If I go to my employer and state that I cannot make myself available then they will just get rid of me.. that's just the way the company works and I have seen it done to ppl before.
I will call tax credits tomorrow and find out exactly where I lie with this one and if its the case that I,m not entitled then I will remove my children form care and ask my employer to let me go..I would be financially better off not working!!
I have worked all my days and paid my taxes and yet when you become a single parent(not through your own choice) everything gets made so much more difficult!!!
You didnt answer any of my questions. How much notice do they give you of wanting to work Mon, Wed and Fri?
As someone else has suggested - they have never asked you to do it yet, so maybe they never will.0 -
I would also like to point out that this is the first time I have ever used a forum like this and it has been a pleasure chatting to a couple off ppl, on the other hand I would just like to say that many others have quite clearly made judgement on me even though they dont know my circumstances.
I feel that this is somewhat rude and rather degrading to someone who already feels at their lowest with their situation, so please bare this in mind before making judgement!!!0 -

I have recently moved to a new area and really dont know anyone.
I will be removing my daughter from care this week as she starts school on monday coming.
My little boy is only 2 and i was going to keep him in the three mornings and put him into his school nursery in the afternoons.0 -
duncombe.
They can call me the day before as notice. just the same way they do when the want to change my work run..
I don't know for god sake,, I had taken steps to make myself available in case they needed me.
Now I am getting all these questions.
I have tried to do the right thing and it just seems it has made things more complicates so i think it answers my question...
I WILL GIVE UP MY JOB!!!0 -
Give up your job if you so wish - you won't be any better off living off benefits. Worse off infact.
Im afraid that when you use forums, you have to be prepared for some harsh words. Everyone is entitled to their opinion afterall.
People are trying to help you. All we can do is go off the information you have provided. You tell us your employer has NEVER asked you to work Mon,Wed or Fri yet you want the government to pay for your children to go into childcare on these days.
Also, your daughter starts school on Monday 16th August?0 -
Hi Shirley, please don't make any hasty decisions. First of all contact Tax credits and explain your situation, they are the best people to give you the correct advice. This will allow you then to determine the best options for you and your family. Try not to be put off the forum there are plenty of people on here that give valuable advice and although some people may suggest things which you disagree with it's a forum, so therefore everyone is entitled to their opinion. Good luck and I hope things work out for you.Mortgage Feb 2015 £178,500 END 2043!!

if your contract says you have to be available to work on a non-rostered day, then yes you can claim for childcare on those days
however that is neither here nor there, as tax credits only want to know how many hours you work, and how much you pay for childcare. nowhere on the forms does it ask, does your childcare coincide with your working hours

I am aware that I will receive some harsh comments, but its really upsetting when ppl dont know your circumstances!!!
I have done what my employer has asked of me and they advised me that I would be entitled to child care tax credits, therefore this is the reason I applied.
It seems that they have just got me into a whole lot of trouble that I really dont need just now.
Yes my daughter does start school on the 16th and I was intending on removing her from child care this friday anyway which would have resulted in just my son being there 3 mornings as he is due to attend main stream nursery starting the 16th.
The bottom line is if I am not available in case of emergency cover or for training then I will lose my job anyway.
Thanks to all for advise but I have now made my decision.0
