Who is exempt from sick/fit notes?

I'm not asking for a list of names! Just a little general information:
I am on Incapacity Benefit (at least until they transfer us all to ESA!) and also DLA.
I send in sick notes, currently my GP has been signing me off for 6 months at a time. (And yes, I know they are now 'fit' notes...)
I was talking to someone last week and they said that they no longer have to send in sick/fit notes.
Could anyone tell me who needs to send in notes and who doesn't? What criteria are used?
I have no problem sending in the notes, I am genuinely unable to even look for work, and it is only twice a year. But I was just wondering about the system.

Unless you are currently appealing your claim, you should not be required to send in six notes. You should have been told to stop sending them once you passed the PCA.Gone ... or have I?0

I have been on Incapacity for a few years now. I filled in a form for the initial claim, and then have been sending in sick notes since then. I get a letter every six months telling me that I need another note.
Would the initial application form be the PCA?0 -

The initial application form would not usually be part of the PCA - this normally happens after a few months, and involves a lengthy form (IB50) and sometimes a medical. It is possible that you could have been exempt from the PCA, but when this was determined you should have been advised to stop sending med certs.
I am wondering if you have never been through the PCA. If you repost on the Benefits board someone may be able to suggest another reason why you are still being asked to provide med certs.Isn't it WCA for ESA and PCA for IB?
It is - the OP is on IB.
