Region free hack for older sony dvd?

Getting nowhere fast trying to search for help on this. I've found one site where someone says he applied the hack and it worked but he didn't say what the hack was. (Old old post so point in trying to ask him.)

Found another site where someone else says this particular model can't be made region free. Can anyone help me please? Model is Sony SLV-D950.

  • Hack's shouldnt be discussed publically. If there is a link somewhere use the search button.. if not look elsewhere ^-^

The old Sony's cannot be hacked as far as I know.

There is nothing wrong with discussing making a DVD player region free, afterall, they do sell them that way...
  • KK :) Didn't know whether its condoned or not.

In which case I know of software that does the job. Called Region Free CSS i think.. its software not hardware so works with all devices :D

  • For region free firmware start with:

    http://tdb.rpc1.org/

    and:

    http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_all.php

Then get DVD Region Killer or DVD Region Free:

And if you cant update the firmware there is always:

Thanks. I think I'm correct in saying that there is nothing illegal about making your dvd player multi region so I didn't think there was any problem with asking about it here? I'm sure I'll soon find out if there is though. :)

I'm a bit confused - are all the links about just related to pc drives? It's a standalone DVD/Video player I was talking about, nothing to do with a pc.

only info I could find was this which doesn't look too promising.

Ah sorry. I must learn to read the question more throughly. My answer is directed at PCs. Sorry.
