yes, it was left on a carpark. locked i have the keys. we only have 1 set (only came with 1 when we bought) Its a 10 year old people carrier not very rock and roll!!
the police were called they not managed to trace so gave us crime num for insurance.

Insurers may be looking at the fact it was left in a car park over night and not at the overnight postcode.

Just be honest in the interview

They are trying to spot fraud i.e. it wasn't really stolen and you made it up to get the money.

You are perfectly entitled to leave your car away from home now and again (provided you've been honest about where the car is normally kept).

They are only ruling out fraud and you have nothing to worry about, so just be honest.

But one wonders how an interview covering such a simple occurrence can be stretched to an hour!

my oh had uesd the car to go out 2 meet friends for a few drinks. he got a taxi home and left the car locked. the pub he went to is in a tiny villiage so no cctv etc. the car is always kept at home overnight otherwise. i took him the next morning to collect the car and it was gone! phoned the police as soon as we got home and then insurance.
how do you prove you only got 1 key when you bought the car?? im so gobsmacked your presumed guilty of something when we are the victims

hi there I have also posted recently about a similar matter. My husbands car was stolen and as I was the last person to use it I had to have a phone interview with the Insurers yesterday. The phone call lasted over 50 minutes.

The following things they went through with me were:

    - Went through the MOT and Reg documents. Discussed keys and how many we had.

-Asked me to go through step by step what happened from the moment I pulled up into the drive, until the moment I rang the police and reported the car stolen.

    - Questioned me over security, how did I know I last left the car secured. Where had I left the keys etc etc.

This all took about 45 minutes, they then went on to explain what would happen next in the process - we have send back documents including spare keys, copies of our licences, V5 & MOT.

To be honest I was really nervous about it all but I think it wasnt as bad as I expected it to be. I made sure I took my time and I also made notes of what I was saying, and what they were saying back to me for future reference.

Try not to worry, I felt guilty even though I knew I had done nothing wrong - I think they just want to check your not a fraudster.

    Hope it goes ok!

And then having hour long interviews to worry about is just about to finish me off  I'll try not to worry about it now I just cant stand the thought the people think your guilty of something when we are the victims!!!
