Key broke in lock!

So, my back door key has just snapped in the barrel of my back door.

I can still open/lock the back door by putting the other half in ( luckily because the rabbits out there and needs feeding! lol )

As I cant get replacement keys, - I have asked various lock/key shops who have said they cant copy it because its a security key ( ? ) so it looks like I'm going to have to replace the whole barrel/back door handle and lock.

Its a ISEO lock & key, key goes it horizontally, rather than vertically, and UPVC handle, it has screws so it can be taken off. - I presume.

Does anyone know how simple a job this will be, or would I need to call someone out ?

TIA - Wench x

OK, so been looking on B&Q website, I think what I need is a euro cylinder lock, looks the same to me.

How do I know what pin I need ? 5/6/7/+ ? or would it not matter if I'm fitting a new lock.

Also, my lock has something where you turn the main key, and it locks in about 4 other points on the door, I dont know how common this is, because I has wooden back door at my old house!
But do I need to take this into account, or would a new lock still work the other 'locks'

    Does that make sense ?
  • The lock is secured by one philips screw, rotate the cylinder to line up the tooth and remove the screw, the lock can then be removed.

Get yourself an ABS Avocet lock - standard Euro cylinders can be broken in seconds. Go for a high security alternative - the ABS is the best on the market at the moment (as far as I know.)

Seen as you have the lock out now take it to a locksmith and ask them to cut a new key for it. the name of the cylinder is an ISEO R6.

or just replace the cylinder with one of the same grade the CISA astral S is a great lock as is the Avocet both have great antisnap protection.

I know what your saying RTNI But from the usual guff that most hardware stores sell they are an upgrade, the Avocet also has a weak point but unlike the avocet sales managment I wont publish it on the net!
