Perspex splashback query

I'm trying to put the finishing touches to my kitchen and was looking at glass splashbacks to go between the wall units and the worktop, but not behind the cooker, as a stainless steel splashback has been fitted. I was wondering whether anyone had used perspex instead of glass for a splashback, as it would be alot cheaper and easier to install

Bear in mind that it is not as heat resistant and scratches easier than glass.0

I spent many years working on radar displays. From experience I can tell you that Perspex scratches very very easily. Even just using the wrong cleaning agent could put scratches into the surface.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
We had acrylic splashbacks in our previous house and they looked great - acrylic does scratch fairly easily and is not heat resistant as other people have pointed out, but we just used to wipe it carefully with a soft cloth and warm water and it was fine. I guess it depends where you have it and whether it is likely to get very dirty and need more vigorous cleaning.
It did work out cheaper than glass but mainly because we bought a large sheet and cut it to size ourselves, so not sure how the actual cost compares to glass in terms of materials.
Good luck, I'm sure it'll look good whatever you decide - ours were the final pieces after a couple of years of building the kitchen painstakingly by hand and it was fantastic to get them in and see the finished result!0 -
Hi, I'm aware that this is an old thread, but hopefully can still have my question answered!
Can anyone give me an idea how much the difference in price between perspex and glass splashback per m2 please?
I know there are lots of variations to both, but just want a rough idea really. Thanks.0
