Good Morning
My partner works as a kitchen assistant and later on this week, she will be having an interview for a job as an assistant cook (with a different employer).
Can you give an indication of what type of questions she will be asked at the interview?
Thanks in advance for your response.

Impossible to say. Surely it depends on the interviewee's particular style or needs for the job.0

Hard to say, but try and work out what she needs to drop into the conversation. Basic food hygiene certificate, first aid training, own set of knives and whites might be what they are looking for...none essential but it all helps if she has them already.
Most catering jobs I've had have been 10 minute interviews, sometimes there is a days assessment in the kitchen as hands on ability is what they are looking for.
Good luck.0 -
Can you cook?
sorry, couldn't resist it :rotfl:
Seriously - hygiene certificate, experience, type of foods she can prepare (i.e. can bake bread from scratch, make canapes, veg prep, really depends on where she'll be working) training she's done, has she worked in this type of kitchen before, how does she cope with time pressure, how does she approach quality control of the food?Cash not ash from January 2nd 2011: £2565.:j
OU student: A103 , A215 , A316 all done. Currently A230 all leading to an English Literature degree.
Any advice given is as an individual, not as a representative of my firm.0 -

Hi
The interview is towards the end of this week. Is it essential to own set of knives and whites as Paul WF has stated?
Thanks0 -
Depends on where the job is and the standard of the restraunt but if its needed she could always purchase them on acceptance of the job. good luck!0
