um....well if I want to get the ones Ive seen I need about another £1400 lol. Ive been having a bit of a battle with R about sofas. Ive bought cheap DFS ones before and they were awful and shot to peices after 2 years...I then bought a secondhand one which was ok but not particularly comfortable and really you don't get to try them out properly when you buy secondhand. And then I have this next one which Ive had for 7 years but is the most uncomfortable sofa known to man..R complains about it every evening he sits on it and we have both agreed we need new sofas sooner rather than later. However what we disagree on is how much to spend. I see buying a sofa as an investment, if you get a classic style and something decent (not foam filled cushions and a wood frame) you can re-upholster again and again. I know its a lot of money, but I don't see the point in spending £500 on a sofa which in 3 years time needs replacing. Better to spend £1000 and it last for years and years...

*and now you can see why I ended up in debt lol*

  • I agree about investing in quality Sally. That said I bought an Ikea 3-seater about 8 years ago and it has been incredible comfy. It started off with dark blue covers and then I changed to cream. They didn't do brown in those days but do now and I really, really want them.

I can see both sides of that Sal - if you have the money to invest in a better one now then I would definitely go for that. But if you haven't and you can get a cheaper one that's going to be comfortable for a few years then that's better than an old uncomfy one.

Which Ikea one have you got Bookie?
