Ripe Conkers yet ?

I found a shiny Conker lying on the ground by my pond this morning. I was surprised as I thought it was early for Conkers, it was not in it's shell and no shell to be seen and the nearest known conker tree to me is roughly a quarter of a mile away. I'm assuming that a Squirrel had bought it to the garden and got frightened off before it had a chance to bury it or it stopped for a drink at my pond and forgot to collect his nut ! Has anyone seen ripe conkers this month ?

Not yet, am on the lookout because last year I collected some and placed them in strategic places in my house as they are meant to deter spiders

It seemed to work so this year I want to collect bucket loads :rotfl:
  • Oooh that's a good tip I have never heard before, I hate spiders! I know where there are horse chestnut trees in abundance and will do a detour there this weekend to see if any ripe! If so the house will be decorated with them!

I saw my first shiny conker on the path in the park this morning. It does seem really early to me.

That's because of the terrible problems they are having atm, it's been going on for a few years.
