Just wondering what the etiquette is on this? If the supermarkets allow it and if so how much is appropriate?

Of course, poor sod has to lug it all the way up the path!

No way, I'm way too tight for that sort of tomfoolery!

I pay at least £3.50 to have them deliver, why would I give them a tip?!0

They earn around the same as store staff and all applied for the job rather than be pushed into it! If I had to go back to working for a supermarket this would be the job I'd want. I don't believe that tips are necessary - their pay is already fair and in keeping with their store based colleagues.0

It's not a case of "No way, I'm way too tight for that sort of tomfoolery!" I believe they are paid enough for doing their job and also how often do you tip the checkout operatorDave0 -
Only on the big Xmas shop on Xmas week along with the PostmanWell I Love Tv And I Love T. Rex, I Can See Through Your Skirt I've Got X-Ray Spex0

On another note, all my delivery drivers have been first class from Tesco and Asda, but had my first delivery last week from Sainsburys with the £10 off and free del, and the guy went way above and beyond, really first classWell I Love Tv And I Love T. Ha! Yea tightwads
I thought they might not be allowed to accept tips so I wasn't sure what to do yesterday. Got a Sainsbury's delivery by a lovely lad who asked did I want him to bring it all right into the house.
I don't tip the till staff because they don't have to lug my heavy shopping (bottled water etc) up the path. I do tip takeaway delivery drivers, food service staff & my hairdresser so the idea tipping these guys didn't seem so unreasonable.
I'll just throw them something at Christmas then with the postman, my mum thought that was the best approach too.The stupid things you do, you regret... if you have any sense, and if you don't regret them, maybe you're stupid. - Katharine Hepburn0 -

It's not about being tight but my cash is hard earned so i don't hand it out willy nilly to every tom, !!!!!! & harry who smiles or carries out their job that they're paid to do... I detest American culture where it's expected to tip, i only hope it never gets like that over here.........What if the Hokey Pokey really is what it's all about !!!0
