Eek! Car insurance renewal just arrived...

and I will not being staying with them this year!
My renewal is £605.41 . Last year I paid £396.75.
I am 25 years old, been driving 3 years, have 2 years no claims, never claimed, never been in an accident, no points etc. How on earth can it leap up by so much.
This is for third party, fire and theft.
Any advice on where / how I can get it cheaper?

Use a couple of comparison sites, but remember to check the level/quality of cover, and that your details have transferred through correctly when you buy.0

Unless "eek" is the name of the insurer there's not much clue as to where you're getting it now.0 -
Go on compare the market, find the cheapest quote, then call your insurers and say you don't want to renew because you've found it cheaper elsehwere.
They will either match it, or you can cancel, simples.Kavanne

Shop around. You have to every year these days...!
I've been driving 10 years, never claimed, no points... signed with Direct Line last year for £380 fully comp and loads of 'extras'. Renewal notice they wanted £595, before extras! Told them to stuff it, and after 60 minutes of shopping around, went with Hastings Direct for £280! Loyalty doesn't pay in the insurance market.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

My bike insurance went up 100% this year, lol. I had one accident but I never told them about it and fixed the bike myself, so had 1 years experience, and 1 years no claims, and they reward me by deciding to charge me double what I paid the first year. I'm sure they're just trying their luck, as I imagine quite a percentage of people would be happy to sit and not need to do anything when renewel time comes around so just pay the inflated price, it's madness.0

Nor does settling for the cheapest insurance. Direct Line to Hastings. Laughable.LeeSouthEast wrote: »Loyalty doesn't pay in the insurance market.0 -

This happened to me this year but I told my insurer I found it cheaper elsewhere and they still managed to knock it down a bit. Plus I complained about their service and got a £20 refund lol!Kavanne

You probably also had a 50% first year discount - hence the price doubling for the second year.:A0 -
Thanks everyone.
I used a few comparison sites to get the average all of which were cheaper than the renewal. I phoned Endsleigh (current provider) gave them my new quote and the woman laughed and said there was no way they could even get close too it!
So I told them to cancel and as from next month I will be insured fully comp by alliance and leicester for a lot less money and much better extras. :j
Lesson learnt... shop around!
