How do i stop a email spammer?

It is from a site known as gifted.com, on the "unsubscribe from this email" link i get a link of "compose message" and this is the email address that it is wanting me to unsubscribe from:

rm-0bxddfcjbfjsej6au8t7c4q3yu1hftj@e.gifted.com

As you see, they will never read my mail if i did send a request for them to stop spamming me, i have tried messaging them before and it didn't work, i got other companies sending me spam soon as i requested they stop.

Is there someone i can report them to?
Owed out = lots.

depends on the email service/software you're using. Go to the help section and look up "spam" or "filtering".

It is not an email address which is read. It is more likely to be taken as an indicator that you have read their tripe, so you can have some more.

It's a mailto: link, so the address that you see is the mailbox that it will go ~to~, not from. It should mean that they can find your account even if the email address that you send it ~from~ is not the same as the one that is registered with them (your email client will simply send it from your default address).

Looking at the site, it doesn't look like an organisation that would force spam on people, so I'd guess the unsubscribe link should work. When you tried sending a message before, did you use their link?

Actually, it's not more likely to be taken as an indicator that you have read their tripe (although it may well seem like it at times!!).

The address will not be a real person's email address at the company - that would never work and wouldn't be practical. Instead, it should be an automated process whereby the email is picked up automatically to unsubscribe the sender.

There are a few things to check/try:
    1) make sure you send the email to the unsubscribe address, from the email address to which you were sent the original email (just in case you have multiple email addresses, and are replying from the wrong one)

    2) check for alternative methods to unsubscribe. Usually there's a number of ways to unsubscribe - replying to an unsubscribe address, clicking a link which takes you to their site and confirms your unsubscription (or gives a duration of how long it may take), link to the site to update your email preferences.

    3) If all that fails, mark the email as spam

Yes i used their link, it opened up my email compose message so i typed in please unsubscribe me, but then i got even more spam.

Their links are all opening up my message composer, and then i get more spam from sites like washbag, etc, i have blocked their domain name so i will see if that works, they were already marked spam.

I beg to differ and stand by what I said. It goes to an automated process, I agree. But the evidence is that the automated process does not stop the emails, it causes more. It should go to automatically unsubscribe the sender, but unfortunately, the majority of opt out links are in spam and are used primarily to filter for live addresses for more spam.

  • I have similar problems with certain sites. just create a rule in your email program to automatically move emails from their domain str8 to the bin. no more problem mail!

The only foolproof method is to ditch your current email address and choose a new one. And that will only work for a certain time, until the spammers latch onto the new one.

Alternatively, Google for "disposable email addresses", and use a separate one, which gets redirected to your new "real" email address, for each organisation which which you deal. A good disposable email supplier will let you 'turn off' any email address on which you are being sent spam.

On mine (Yahoo) I can set the filter with the email address and say I do not want to receive mail from them.
