Someone that's driving me mad......

I've read it about 20 times today (and 20 times a day for the last week or so)...

"less people buying houses...."

It's FEWER.

Less sugar. Less rice. Less bread. Fewer people. Fewer bags of sugar. Fewer dogs!
...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.

I probably always get it wrong. Fortunately I think more people are buying houses so no danger at the moment.

    Something.

    Not Someone.

It could be someone. It might be me. Is it me? I'd like to know if it's me. Can you tell me if it's me :)

    I haven't got a clue what I write half the time :)

A guy came to give a presentation a while back... he had a PhD in Russian literature (and is British). He kept saying "Less people..." and it drove me insane all the way through! I could not take the man seriously as an intelligent human being!!! :rotfl:

Please don't take this the wrong way, but sometimes I think people can get a bit too hung up on the exact correct use of English stuff like words an' all that. Now if he had said less dudes then I wouldn't take him seriously but LESS and FEWER is not something I get right meself.

I'm a layman of the english language and probably guilty of the "less" & "fewer" mistake, but my personal gripe is "losing" & "loosing" arrrgh!

Just need to let loose, because I'm losing my will to spell correctly ;)
