Puzzled's Wedding Woes

Ok, so the title might be a bit dramatic lol.

Now that OH and i are officially engaged i thought a nice thread to sound out ideas with you guys would be a good idea :)

Im not quite sure where this is going to go and i think its just going to end up being a collection of ideas and things, but since i am way to inclined to open up a million threads at random to ask a single question a thread of my own might be a better idea :)

So, here we go :)

OH and i are now engaged after being together a year and a bit (that bit is all important lol)

He is 36, i am 27 and this is my second time (still waiting for 2 years seperation so that i can arrange the divorice)

We have already been speaking about venue's and guest lists and things and at pretty much agreed that the central people to the wedding total up to no more than 20 (depending on how mad i let myself go it may be as few as 12)

We both want a quiet wedding at the local registry office and then a meal altogether somewhere yummy.

We also want it to be MSE and to be sensible, we have a new roof to buy and 2 new windows to replace that will take a lot of funds over the next 2 years so its not going to be for a while.
  • Music

We are both Robbie fans - him more than me - and if we were going to have a first dance, it would be to the Baseballs version of Angels with a proper dance routine - and that would be at the party we would probably hold for everyone else - ideally a massive night out in town with mates and drinks that we dont have to pay for ;) (maybe enlist a publican or two in our plan to help us get someone to play the tune while we dance lol)

I was in the car on the way home and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHYTW2rbXqM came on my non-apple music player and i thought how perfect it would be to walk down the isle to this - we both enjoy this style of music and OH loves this song :)

right, thats enough for tonight so i will shut up and leave you all in peace :)

Puzzled - I know you're in Gloucestershire, but whereabouts? Just asking cos some of the register offices are closing soon, so you
may want to take that into account with your planning.
Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??

Thanks Dizzie, i need to change that - OH lives (and i live part time) in Northampton so the central regisrty office will be where we are headded :)

Thanks for letting me know though, i will pass it on to a friend who has also started looking for somewhere :)
  • Well, ive been thinking of weddingy bits for a little while.

OH and i are definately going down the local and quiet route and i was just thinking, wedding cars - well transport really.

It would be very "us" (probably more me sometimes lol) to do something completely random.

So, im thinking, would it be possible to ride away from the Ceremony on our motor bike (an xjr 1300 if that means anything to you ladies)

I mean, i could pop some leggings on under my dress for decency, We would not being going far so would be relatively safe with Helemts.

My hair would be down so with a bit of a tidy up at the other end we would be fine

Now im thinking about it im getting more and more ideas ... like enlisting BIL2B and getting him to put a sign in his boot that we can clip on that says just married.

Infact - if i went for a skirt/top combo i could whip off the skirt before we left.

It would be very comical for OH to run off with BIL2B get the bike, get the sign and ride around the corner - i can jump on and we can ride off into the sunset (well really, the centre of town traffic) everyone would be shocked, happy and would all totally agree that its definately something that we would do :D

    Does anyone think im mental?

OH is stuck at work so im home alone and these thoughts are getting me through the wait lol

I LOVE the idea of whipping off the skirt to reveal leggings (same colour as the skirt? Spangly? "Mrs *insert name here*" painted onto the backside with fabric paint?) and roaring off on a motorbike!! :rotfl:

You should definitely do that... :T

I love the idea of leaving the ceremony on a motorbike with a 'Just Married' sign on the back!! :T:T

How cool would that be, and can you imagine the looks you would get from people lol!! :rotfl:

Get a veil (not an expensive one) and attatch it to the underneath of the back of your helmet!

You don't need leggings, just tuck your dress into your knickers! :D

  • hehe :) thanks guys :)

Spangly ones are a great idea! I can leave that as a Suprise for OH as well hehehee

The Veil - what an ace idea! that would look amazing!!!!!

Glad neither of you said its stupid lol.

Im also thinking its a great way for OH and i to get all of the gawping public attention that feels nice, without feeling embarressed because we will be under lids and no one can see our faces :)

I think im off to see about skirts and tops lol

It's not stupid at all! I love it when couples have their own original ideas and stray away from the norm!

Is it against the law now to have cans on the back of a vehicle? You could tie some cans to the back of the bike if it's not ~ I love seeing that! :D

Have you picked a date yet? x

Oh love the bike idea!!! My friend was going to do something similar, her and hubby on his Harley from the registry office to the reception. She even made her own dress in a style that she could ride the bike in. Then 2 weeks before the wedding somebody made a casual comment about them leaving the bike at the reception venue (as they'd have been drinking so couldn't ride back)...at which point her OH said no way, he adores that bike and refused to leave it anywhere so the whole plan got abandoned!
