Contents insurance 27% rise !!

I have been with Saga for years for my house contents insurance and never claimed but in spite of a 10% NCB the premium always goes up. But this year it's gone up 27% !!

I have been looking on the comparison sites but cos there was a subsidence claim on the building insurance (with another company) a few years back, most of the companies won't even quote me.
The subsidence claim was sorted by underpinning but I have to stay with that ins. company for buildings insurance cos again, nobody else wants to know.

Do I just have to pay the 27% increase to Saga or do I have any other options? I am a pensioner and another £ 20 a month is a lot to find.
Thanks

So sorry, I pay quarterly not monthly like I used to.

It has gone up £ 71 over the year, but still gotta be found.
I could understand if I had made a claim but I never have

In your situation it can often be worth getting a quote from the company you get your building cover from. I say this as generally the building premiums are quite high, when you combine building and contents you often get a discount. The discount off a building premium for a previous subsidence property can sometimes make the contents premium very cheap.

After some flack from me Saga offfered a £25 customer loyalty discount cos I haven't claimed in the 11 years I have been with them.
The buildings insurer's broker "doesn't offer contents insurance to our mortgage customers". But the mortgage isn't with you any more !!
Still not happy I called Age Concern (Fortis Ins) who knocked the £70 off that Saga had upped it, with no loss of cover ! So I am a happy bunny.
