I don't think I'd even be able to name the vague area of the country if I am honest :rotfl:

Anyway having read the other thread about Wisbech I clearly know more about the strange locals!!!

And the percentage aware of the Walpole St Peters Church? - I bet you would just get "dunno"?

Viola said the area was most well known for the "cathedral", I begged to disagree.

Sorry OP, I think you have an inkling where to visit now -
Have a lovely holiday in Norfolk

Have you lived there very long? I shouldnt think its a magnet for holiday makers, not even with a good chip shop. Fens - beautiful?? Theres another thread running somewhere on the boards about Wisbech. Someone thought it was in Norfolk and wondered why property was so cheap there - I always thought it was an estate agents ruse to say Norfolk about that town. (Its not really a Cathedral in Walpole is it? - we could have a poll to see if people knew about a church at Walpole or the Tony Martin/gypsey case - want a bet on the outcome? :)).

Anyway, we are off the subject of holiday places in Norfolk - sorry OP.

I didn't say Wisbech was desirable to live in, I didn't even say it was desirable as a holiday location, I merely mentioned that it has an excellent chippy, which I still hold to be true.
And no, it's not an actual cathedral at Walpole, which I also didn't claim, but it is a very fine church and it is known as the Cathedral of the Fens. I didn't realise we should judge places by what most people know about them.

I wouldn't have bothered contributing to the thread if I knew I would be quizzed in this manner. I think you were rude.

Beaches going south from the top of the bump

Hunstanton, Wells next sea, Holkham, Shreingham, Cromer, and I think the best of all Overstrand with the Clifftop Cafe well worth a visit.
I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.

Violalass, the point of this thread was the OP asking where to visit in Norfolk on a Norfolk holiday, hence replies should address that. You put forward Wisbech. I said it was not in Norfolk and definitely not a holiday place to visit. End of. But you continued to niggle. Fair enough, you think Franks is a good chip shop, but It was not a thread asking, where is the best chippy in the country?. (And to be pedantic, you did say known for the "cathedral of the fens", not its "a big church, known as ....................... )

Mishka - who I confused with you on an earlier post - has added that Great Yarmouth is a "scummy Blackpool". Fair enough, her opinion, which I happen to agree with actually. I dont see that upsetting anyone?

Im sorry if you are offended about my opinion on the area you live in but I didnt want anyone to be confused over it being a Norfolk holiday town, which it definitely isnt.

The other thread on the boards has a lot of people "being rude" about the area too. Im afraid Wisbech/the fens has always been and will continue to be the butt of jokes because to the majority of people, its really not a nice place.

If you go to Norwich, don't forget the Cathedral and the surrounding area (The Close & Tombland). You've also got the river, where you can take river trips and gems like Elm Hill...
