Hi
I'm helping my dad by email at the mo. He needs to know if his Windows 7 OS is 32 or 64 bit. What's the quickest way to find out?
System tools\System Info?

Apparently I'm 10 years old on MSE. Happy birthday to me...etc

Look in the C:\ drive. If there's a folder 'Program Files (x86)' and 'Program Files' then it's a 64 bit version.
Alternatively right click on My Computer then Properties. Under System you'll see System Type which will tell you.0 -
Start - Computer - System Properties0

I believe the vista method here should work:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/827218
So:
Click Start, type system in the Start Search box, and then click System Information in the Programs list.
When System Summary is selected in the navigation pane, the operating system is displayed as follows:
For a 64-bit version operating system: x64-based PC appears for the System type under Item.
For a 32-bit version operating system: x86-based PC appears for the System type under Item.
Got to say, that out of date info from Microsoft is poor though.0 -
> Click your start button
> right click 'Computer' and select properties
It'll show you on window that appears!

The quickest way is probably to hold down the Windows key and press the Pause/Break key, to get up the System Information window... (Many new laptops no longer have a Pause/Break key, by the way.)0
