Help me find a wedding venue within 1.5 hrs of London?

I don't know if it's too far but if Chelmsford counts as your 1.5 hour distance, I have been to a do at http://www.pontlandsparkhotel.co.uk/ and it's fantastic.
It wasn't a wedding that we went to though. But if it wasn't so far from our home, we'd definitely get married there - in fact we still considered it in spite of the fact it's 3.5 hours away from our home!I love surprises!0 -
Gosfield Hall in North Essex - about an hour and a quarter into central london - been to two weddings there last year

or Leez Priory0 -

Does the £3k budget include venue hire, or is that just for food & drink?
£3k budget is just for food and drink - no preference for any direction at all which is why i think we are struggling because one minute we are looking at Suffold and the next in Bournemouth!
Thank you all for all the great suggestions so far - will be emailing lots of venues tomorrow

this is about an hour and half from London, and is absoulely stunning!! We went to a wedding fair there and fell in love, but out of our budget (and we'd booked somewhere else!!)
ETA: We were told the packages mentioned ARE flexible!:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:0 -
Bletchley Park & Stowe house in Bucks are gorgeous!! I originate from that area and I've heard they're very pricy but Buckinghamshire seems to have lots of stately homes/ old country cottages that can be hired...sorry I don't have much info!! Never been married.
Good luck with it all though and I hope you find that magical venue. XMarried in 2016. Bought our first home in 2017. Expecting our first baby in November 2017

Frugal & thrifty as much as possible.

Coltsford Mill is a beautiful venue in Surrey. It's off junction 6 on the M25 and is absolutely gorgeous. The staff are all really nice and will make sure you have a fantastic day.0

Have you tried central london. Its cheaper then you might think at weekends when the business trade is dead. Saw a wedding at dorest square hotel near baker street the over day. it looked lovely. Work a look?0

Have you looked at the ramada Jarvis 3k packages. There are quite a few that are country looking and not far from london.
