Egg Card PPI

Hi All,

My wife has an egg card and was unaware that she had PPI on the card. She has a long history or liver and kidney problems, dating back to childhood and had a kidney transplant about 2 years ago and also draws a small salary from my limited company, meaning that she can never actually be classed as being unemployed. With that in mind, would you think that she has a good case in terms of getting these charges refunded? She has had the card for a long time now but I don't know when the PPI was put onto the account.

Have any people out there had any joy getting refunds off Egg? Are there any templates and guides specifically relating to PPI and credit cards?

Cheers

Tony

    Hi There

Look at the tab at the top here saying Claim back 1000's read through that and there will be guidance on CC as well as Loans.

It looks as though you will have a really good case here. I would just ring in the first place as they may agree over the phone .

Good luck and let us know.

    Hi Tony

The first template letter have been replaced by a FOS questionnaire, they have not long been issued by the financial ombudsman service (FOS) and they have issued these to help with your reclaim.
Remember to keep a copy as well, they have 8 weeks in full to give a response.

The FOS questionnaire as on below link - further down the page as stage one.

Good luck and ask for help if required.;)

    Thanks everybody.

Just a quick point. In the guide above,

"If you bought your loan or credit card online, reclaiming’s more difficult as the full T&Cs are usually available there. "

As Egg are online only, presumably this will come into play. I'm guessing that they will simply come back with that PPI was optional and my wife ticked it (she says she doesn't know as it was years ago) and all the T&C's were available. Is there anything that can be done when (if) this happens?

    Hi Tony

Do not be too concerned about that. Egg use to have PPI box that was pre ticked so you had to opt out of the PPI. I think what they mean by your statement above is that nowadays that may be the case.

    Good Luck

  • Many thanks to everybody who has responded.
  • Ok and update.

I got my wife to ring this morning. She took the card out in 2002 and was told that she would have 'probably' had to tick something to have the PPI applied to the card. She has been told that she has to write a letter to get any further information, including any policy number which is one of the required fields on the FOS document.

Any suggestions as to the next step? Should we bother to write in or just go straight to the FOS questionaire?

    Hi Tony

If you require more details/documentation, then you could request for a Subject access request (SAR), there is a template letter for this request, and you enclose £10 cheque or postal order, they then have 40 calendar days to comply.;)
