URGENT Please help!!!

I needs some help. Over the last 2 years I've managed to run up 9k on a credit card I have this at 0% at the moment and was planning to switch to another 0% soon. I've just applied for one and been declined!!!

I've checked my credit file and everything's fine apart from two late payments from my bank. I have no idea what these are for but they are clearly

scuppering my chance of getting credit. I've written to my bank to try to find out what it is but I need help on how to get this resolved, Before December I must pay this card off one way or another as that's when the 0% ends. I don't mind getting a loan to pay it.

What's my best approach?

Why not just start making the monthly payments?

    HouseHuntr is just a stirrer!
Every post of his (going just from memory I accept) is either snide, mocking, sarcastic or downright nasty.
If he has a reason (a constructive reason) to be on this forum then I haven't seen it.

If he wishes to correct my impression by pointing out some helpful posts of his, that's fine. Happy to be corrected.
Maybe it's time he was reported for abuse? Not for one post, but for multiple posts of this sort taken together?

If you do continue your hunt for cards, I'd go for life-of-balance cards. True 5.9% or 6.9% sounds worse than 0% - but:
    1) you don't need to worry about whether you can get another card when the deal expires
    2) you won't be paying the 3% fee each year

Possibly a bit late now and perhaps the late payments have messed up your chances as you say. But don't forget - if you've got any unused cards ring them up to see if they have deals on offer. Barclaycard, Halifax and Natwest in the past have given me deals on the phone.

If you've only made one application, I think I would make one more. A couple of searches is no problem.
  • Hi all, thanks for the advice.
I have written to my bank as I can't see anything that would give me a 2! on my credit file.... Once I have clarification I'll be in a position to know what to do next.
I have until December to get this resolved and I don't really even mind taking a loan to cover it. I am just worried no one will give me one.

After my panic yesterday I don't even mind taking the hit and paying the higher % for 6 months until I can improve my creditor at a worst case until I can re-mortgage In the meantime I'll have to pull my horns in a bit I think!!

The intention is to remortgage this time next year and absorb it this way as the card has been used for home improvements.

fingers crossed in 3 months time I can apply again and will be accepted.

    Recognise anything?
  • I've already looked at these and I haven't been overdrawn for 2/3 months, or had anything bounce.......... So I really am at a loss with this?
If you have a 2 one month wouldn't you get a 1 for the the month before...........
