:rotfl:Yes of course - I'd just feel a bit self-conscious phoning up and asking them to read out every detail of the bill, the day before I go down there to pay it...

Well, just call them up and ask them what their labour rate is. They don't have to know it's you ;)

£1400 is a lot of money, I'd want a break down of any repair bill that big before paying.

Hey, if you say it's fair I'll believe you

My sister was going to break the donor van for me - she lives in the area and is an eBay trading assistant part-time. However, the timing's messed up - she's just gone to Italy for a week and obviously I can't leave it at the garage :( So I'm just going to take what I can off it (spare wheel, battery, seats maybe), take them home with me and arrange the scrap merchant to pick it up. In fact the garage has already said he's got a contact who can pick it up free of charge.

Shame you can't take those new tyres off it, would save money when it comes to replacing yours.

Totally. I would do a swapsie but mine are brand new too! I'll have to just make do with the extra spare :(

Not to mention, I've already had someone asking me about the wheels!

Isn't the engine in a Hi Jet mid engine, if so (I'm not an expert) it may make it harder to work on which might increase the labour time, in addition they might have skimmed the head etc.

It is, yeah - you have to lift the front seats to get to it. And in the camper conversion, the fitted units mean they don't stay up - you either have to hold the seats or take them out completely...

They have put a new timing belt on and swapped the fly wheel (my original was in better condition than the replacement one).
