Insurance claim - substandard materials (allegedly)

Hi all,
A few months ago, water from the flat upstairs leaked into mine and caused damage. The claim was settled and the remedial works included a new laminate floor in part of my flat.
Over the summer months, the floor has buckled in several places and the builders have been back twice to cut a bigger expansion gap. Upon happening a third time, when I contacted the building company, the manager said that the materials (i.e. the floor) were obviously sub-standard and that he would meet me to discuss 'where we go from here'. The building company were chosen by the insurers as they were the cheapest of the two quotes sent in. I did not insist that the carry out the remedial works.
The floor was purchased by the building company from Homebase but was a style of laminate floor that I picked out. Do you think I have any chance of getting this sorted once and for all (i.e. insurance repairs that are 'sub-standard') or is it a case of 'tough luck' because it was me who chose what floor to lay down?
I'd be grateful for any advice from insurance professionals or people who have been through the same thing.
Many thanks!

Ok ... so there may not be many people reading this who are professionals or have had the same thing happen to them. Sorry for insisting - just that I've had frustrating experiences on other forums etc.

Does anyone have an idea if anything can be done here?
Many thanks!0 -

There are several possibilities which would take an experienced professional to evaluate.
If the problem is due to the quality of the materials you chose then you would have a case against Homebase. If the fault lay in the way the floor was laid then your comeback would be against the builder.42 years of experience in the insurance industry.
And nothing the industry tries do to us surprises me any more!0
