PHP page not loading

My sister in law (SIL) has a problem with her PC where going to this site:

https://www.dailyinfo.co.uk

and clicking on the "Place Ad" button results in a blank page.

The site redirects you to

http://www.dailyinfo.co.uk/place_ad_change.php

When you click "Place Ad"

This works fine on my iMac, in Safari and Firefox, and on my work laptop running XP Professional with IE8 and Firefox.

My SILs laptop is running Windows XP home, with IE8. I have tried creating a new user account and installing Firefox. I have also gone through all Internet Explorer settings side by side with my work laptop and they are all the same. Whatever I do I still get a blank page with "done" at the bottom left.

On my work laptop, if I select "View Source" a window pops up showing all the PHP code, but on the SILs laptop, nothing happens. Pop up blocker is turned on in both machines.

Does anyone have any ideas, please?

Thank you very much!

    Seemed all up to date.

However, when I checked advanced internet explorer settings against my laptop, I noticed there were no JAVA settings, but I thought "this is PHP, don't need Java for this"...

So, is Java required for PHP sites?

PHP is strictly server-side and hence, all PHP is executed on the server.

Almost all of the time this is due to bad configuration / poor coding on the hosts behalf - but what is strange is that the website loads fine for me.
Only thing I could suggest really is either a. clear your cache or b. test in a different web browser (though I strongly doubt that would make a difference).
  • She may have some sort of program installed that is detecting and blocking the site as an advertisement?

You hit the nail on the head here!

After reading your post I dug a little deeper into the Kaspersky settings and found a setting to block advertising banners.

When I disabled it, up came the page good as gold. Just to be sure, I re-enabled the protection, and sure enough it stopped again.

    Thank you very much!
