Printer stopped working mid-document

I'm sure its something I've done, but I can't seem to fix it.

I was printing out a document, and my black ink cartridge ran out. I was expecting it, and changed cartridges **but** I skipped over printing out the test page, and now it won't print the rest of the document.

It was a docx document, and I transcribed it into Word, and that won't print either. I went back and started the cartridge insertion process again, and *did* print a test page. But it still won't print the rest of the document I was in the middle of printing. I've been rummaging around in the help centre online, which hasn't done anything :(

Does anyone on here know what might have happened? And even more, how to fix it?

Very hopeful here .............

Sometimes if you try printing a different document it will finish the previous one first. Someone else should be along that can maybe offer more help...........

Aarghh! I reinstalled the cartridges, printed another test page, which *did* print and told me that it had changed the settings for optimal quality. Then I tried to print another short document, taken at random from my hard drive .... and it wouldn't print it ........ :(

Have you tried taking the printer plug out and reinserting? Honest, not taking the p*** - that or simply rebooting the puter usually works for me.

Hi, sorry I've been away, had to work for a bit :)

I did reboot the computer already, and it didn't help :( I haven't tried taking the printer plug out! I'll do that next and report back. Thanks.

Extreme embarrassment here .... you know that pink piece of sticky plastic that you have to take off the cartridge where the ink comes from? Underneath it is a blue, even stickier piece of plastic. That was still in-place. I've spent hours on this, and needlessly involved people on here - sorry all. At least my document has now printed - it was for work, and I needed it for Friday.
