Couldn't really give a stuff what they think.

The OP has incurred the debt, thought he got lucky but was wrong.

You really aren't paying attention Equaliser, are you? If I incurred the debt, yes, I'd pay it, but it was disputed at the time.

Now please vacate this thread. I'm not interested in anything you say.
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies

The problem that has been stated is they have stated the account is now closed and no money owed. They should not have stated this and instead said they would endeavour to find the agreement but in the meantime put the account on hold.

They wrote about putting the account on hold first, about 2 months ago, whilst they found the agreement. They also sent another 2 letters stating they were still waiting. Then they sent the letter saying it wasn't available, the account was closed and I owed nothing to them.

I think that letter is in fact a very powerful card in a deck..... should I need to play my hand...

You are not interested in advice that goes against you.

You tried a technicality. It didn't work. If you dispute the debt other than through that technicality, then your arguments remain.

It was a mistake. If I understand your posts, there was a period of less than a week between them saying they would close the account and finding the CCA.

If you look at their terms there will be a "no waiver" clause. It is not a powerful card at all.

Well, I am awaiting their reply now, so we'll see.

The thing is you also said not to contact you again...

Hope you get it sorted. But please calm down when people give you advice you don't want to hear.

The email I fired off basically said unless they are writing to tell me that they have closed the file then they are not to write to me again.

If I had run the debt up then I wouldn't have disputed it at all and would have paid and closed the account, but I'm at the 5 year stage now, so will fight if for longer if I have to.

Equaliser123, if you had £200-£300 incurred on your credit card that wasn't you, are you telling me you'd just pay it anyway? I argued and fought with Crapital One for 12 months over it, and they stated it was me! (How I can make a cash withdrawal in Poland when I didn't even have a UK passport is beyond me, but hey) - they still refused to budge, so I cancelled my Direct Debit and wrote them a letter basically telling them to insert their credit card sideways.

So, forgive me, but I'm willing to tell Lowell to shove it sideways too if I can.
