Spyware and what it does to your system

I have just an Ad Aware and its found 17 critical items, so in easy terms exactly what does it mean ?
Could this cause problems with funny goings on with my tiscali email, soon as I type the @ the first bit of me email address dissapears. (I did ask a question a few weeks back but the problem is not resolved like I initially thought, seems to be intermittent).

edit to add : Durr ive checked my email after id deleted them critical files. My keyboard is doing wierd things and its all to do with the AT key, its baffling me.
I cant make the at key work now.hope you know what im waffling on about heheheh
