But a few years ago I had to bury my aunt, and when they spoke of embalming and I expressed horror, I was told very clearly that it had to be done. Then when the body was on show before the funeral, it was wearing makeup-- and this a country lady who never did more than powder her nose and put on a dash of lipstick for church-- it was nothing like her! A little sensitivity would have been good... Possibly things have relaxed a little now?
