Can anyone tell me the exact product I need to buy ? Daughter has gone to Uni with wireless laptop and would like me to buy her a "card" so that she can watch tv on it ! I am completely useless at tech stuff so if anyone can point me in the right direction I'd be really grateful. Thanks

I thought that if the tv can be powered by it's own batteries it's covered by your home licence?0

This is a result of the laptops CPU running at a lower frequency when unplugged, you can tall the laptop not to reduce performance at the expense of battery life in its power settings. However the money you save on a TV licence is negated by the cost of a replacement battery, assuming you watch TV often.
Its a little off topic but during my time at uni I have noticed that generally speaking the number of entertainment related electronics someone has in their room is inversely proportional to the amount of time they spend socialising. A TV is far from necessary at university, an extra cost and another thing to move every academic year.0 -

I take your point,It's not that she intends to watch much tv but as a Mum; I just want to make her as "at home" as possible ! I'm 44 and in my time at Uni I was just grateful for clean underwear ! ... times have changed !!0 -

Is your daughter going to stay in halls or a shared house? In halls, I needed one as was renting a room; but now, as I'm sharing a house with 3 others and we are renting the house as a whole, we only need one tv licence.. so we share the cost between us!0

I've heard that the freecom one hasn't got a good remote control range, is this true?0 -
