When i used to work at B&Q i wasnt involved with kitchen stuff much but its typical that the fitting will be at least as costly as all eh fittings and usally more. That been said our local fitter guys did do good job never heard a single complaint about our fitters, but did get plenty about the quality of the items.

Another good company if you live around M25 is Benchmarx.

I was going to get a kitchen through Wickes. They offered me a good deal and then lowered it again by about £500 when I was serious about going with Benchmarx because they didn't want to lose a £3k sale.

Benchmarx carcasses come already assembled so there is a massive saving in build time (but you do need a lot of space to store them until needed). Also when I put my order in with Wickes they told me that if the order is wrong and; for example I needed a bit more plinth; it could take up to 6 weeks to get it. No good if you've got a builder waiting to finish a job. Benchmarx supply the trade and have it in stock. They were very good for me. They were also very good at refunding me for items left over.

Have had an absolute nightmare with B&Q kitchens, in a nut shell, spent nearly £6000 on a kitchen and fitting - between pieces damaged, missing, incompetent fitting, wrong plan - it had taken 10 weeks to fit a straightforward kitchen. I had to return items and it took 15weeks for them to refund my money to me! Have written a letter to the Head Office complaining and asking for compensation, passed back to the service centre and ignored. After numerous phone calls think last count was in excess of 50, offered £100!!!! Absolute joke
Spoke to Head Office and they told me nothing to do with them, that was all on offer, go to trading standards they don't care - Great customer service or what?????
I have 7 pages in total of all the contact I have had with them, mostly initiated by myself trying to get the kitchen finished!
Great at taking your money but if something goes wrong or you complain, expect to get shafted.
My solicitor will be getting in contact ref breach of contract with them, won't hold my breath.
Will never be near B&Q again for even a plant!!! This has been a disaster, chose B&Q as they are a big company and thought it was a good stable choice, obviously the bigger the company the less they care.
You can do it if you DON'T B&Q it!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's not good. tbh, if you'd had a quite look on here before going with B and Q, 99% of the replies would have been to swerve using them at all!

Bit late now, I hope that I can at least stop other people having to go through the same thing

Do what my Nan did. Went to B&Q, Wickes, Howdens (via our kid), MFI (when it was still in business, and got plans from all which she could take away (apart from MFI who said something about copyright and she could only have the plan if she committed to the kitchen there and then), pick the plan U like, and get quotes for fitting etc, then get an independant quote for fitting only and price up the kitchen. If it works out cheaper go and get the kitchen yourself, or in my nans case, get your grandkids to go and get it and bring it home. That way no missing parts, noi delivery charge and probably a whole lot cheaper.
