Wow :j:j
So here we are entering the 4th year post flood.....and it's now time for the phoenix to rise methinks
Renaissance = Re-birth (my life and home) and Restitution = giving back something that has been lost (my hard-earned dosh!!) - I did toy with rejuvenation, reinstatement and various other "r's" - but I think the title is pretty apt :cool:
For those that have missed the previous diaries here they are

and here is a brief summmary:
July 2007 home destroyed by floods. Wol and Guinea Piggies homeless and relocated 60 miles away.
Insurance cocked up claim :mad: - (finally got Ombudsman adjudication a couple of weeks ago which is not good :mad:...next stop court)
Nervous breakdown Oct 07 - still fragile. Estranged from family and friends.
Bad injury to hand in June 08 (from Beechie boy guinea pig
), necessitating loverly MSE peeps coming to help me pack to move back to reinstated house :A:A. (Now facing another op so i will be ableto shake hands and play Bat out of Hell on the piano in future)
Move back Aug 08 to discover Dodget & Bodget Builders cocked up reinstatement (yes, they were cowboys :mad:) but I was persuaded to let them get away with it :mad::mad:
Enter Top Totty :drool::drool:......to build Piggie Palace in 2009 :j(Stage 1) and reinstate house in May 10 (Stage 2) :T....all at my expense
. Unfortunately they discovered more "fundamental" problems with house reinstatement work done by Dodget - now subject to legal claim following expert witness surveyors report :mad::mad:
At the same time poor piggies all developed horrible unknown illness and I am now reduced to 8 piggies from 15 which has been rather upsetting....(plus rather a lot of vets bills - now runnning at about £3k :eek:...but luckily I have now found nice and knowledgable exotics vet :cool:)
Stage 2 works completed 27th July 2010 and the worst of the problems have now been rectified....:j:j:j
Cue....Massive fantabidosi celebration "The Rave" on 31st July this year for all those wonderful peeps that have supported me :j:j:beer::beer:....it woz luverly
:D
So in Part 4, I have to replenish the coffers by whatever means (:eek::cool:) and can now re-start my life again which has been on hold for the last three years :j.
In short - from the moment the flood happened, everything I regarded as a secure anchor in my previous life was systematically stripped away bit by bit - home, garden, family, friends, OH, mind, career, piggies, piano playing, trust in the professions: it's not until you lose it that you realise how much it meant to you in the first place
The amazing support I have found on here from all my lovely DFW friends has been priceless......and continues to be the thing that keeps me going (along with the piggie licks and whiskery kisses).
THANK YOU EVERYONE :T:T:T:T..................
..................YOU ARE MY ROCK!!!!!
(as is also my bank manager :A and my psychotherapist :A:A - without whose help I would not have been able to survive and still be where I am today and looking forward to the future - both mentally and financially
)
So moving forwards, I need to
a) find new clients for my business (or get a full time job);
b) ebay shed loads of stuff to generate cash :money:
c) slog away at (possibly two separate) court cases to try to recover some of the £90k I have shelled out over the last 3 years trying to protect/restore my flooded home and possessions :mad:
d) keep looking after my piggies and build upon what we have learned to date about their illness
.
e) restore my health - more on that later
So fasten your seatbelts everyone - I hope it's not going to be as rocky as the last three years..;)...and please don;t forget to put 23rd July 2011 in your diaries for The Big 50....:beer:...(.oh......and whatever you do - please - NO rain-dances :eek::p:D)
Wheeks to you all from the piggies
And humble hugs to you all from Wol

Good grief- when you put it all down like that it looks well, i won't say it. Well done for overcoming it all and onwards and upwards. As the bard would say:
Blackadder: A man may fight for many things. His country, his friends, his principles, the glistening tear on the cheek of a golden child. But personally, I'd mud-wrestle my own mother for a ton of cash, an amusing clock and a sack of French !!!!!!.
So there you have it.
Good luck WolBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -
