Admiral & Elephant...

Hello,

I'm only 19 and insurance is due soon!

Best quotes have to be 2000 from Admiral and Elephant.

My previous insurance was on my father's name as i only used the car every now and then, but now i'm on my feet and have my own.

1.6 Hyundai Coupe 2003

Anyway, Admiral wouldn't let me pay monthly but Elephant would? They both have the 10 month advance period but elephant quote is like 15£ more.

Are they the same company?

And any experiences with Elephant?

Cheers.

Adam

No offense but it's a shame when a 'Personal Financial Advisor' can't use their initiative. Info on Admiral and Elephant car insurance:

My advice has no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience.

To be honest, it was just a quick post from my blackberry well i was on the train, to find out a fast answer because most of the time on here people are friendly, helpful and rather quite fast.

    Thanks though, i appreciate it.

    yes there are the same.

Motor insurance is full of brands which come under the same umbrella company.

He is a tied agent. Tied agents dont know the markets in the same way a broker or IFA would. The tied agent world is very insular as the parent company wants it that way. The minute the adviser starts seeing what is available in the whole of market, they wont want to stay tied (been there, done that, couldnt wait to escape, never looked back)

    Thanks allot.

I think even though i've read really bad reviews about Elephant, i'll just take it on the chin and go with them to be honest. It'll be cheaper ha-ha!

I'd love to go Independent but its my first year, i need a little experience with these guys and then maybe.

Client base and lack of opportunities for me at the minute, I'm happy for now to be fair, but the dream is to go independent.

    Thanks again.

The banks are the natural training ground nowadays. It can take a number of years before the training and exam knowledge kicks in and you understand why something happens rather than just knowing the answer. You will get euraka moments in the early years where you suddenly realise why something is done like that.

its better to lean and to make mistakes on low knowledge bank customers where you have no personal liability than jump in at the deep end and risk it as an IFA. Plus, as you say, you get clients and build up knowledge and experience that you will need as an IFA.

I was happy to begin with as well. You tend to find you will either end up tied agent brainwashed where you believe everything your company tells you or you start to become jaded with the limitations of a tied agent. It is a big step to go IFA and not one to take lightly but if you get the timing right you will never look back. Good luck

They are the same company as is bell insurance!
Have you phoned them up in regards to paying monthly ?

I phoned them up for exactly the same purpose, however they came up with some 18% apr quote and said I loose my one payment bonus of 10% ish. Making a £1300 premium £197 per month!

As your in the banking scene is there not a company insurance deal?
If not as a friend of mine did why not seek alternative finance at a much cheaper rate, for example he took out a £1400 loan from zopa which works out at about £138 per month and retained his one off bonus and avoided that 18% apr finance!

18 is my lucky number but that still sounds horrendous to me.

    Thanks Duhstonh!

Also i know, they are robbers to be fair ha-ha. But i am a little bit of what they deem "a boy racer" they don't really know me, do they?

And even with their additional non bonus and monthly payments it is still cheaper then other providers by about 700£.

Logic says, put up and shut up ha-ha!

    Thanks.
