Dispute With Garage

Will try and keep this as short as possible.
Purchased a 2004 VW Beetle July this year from a major car dealership. Sold as having Full Service History. On pick up of vehicle, no servicing books or manuals. Was told they had been lost and new pack would be ordered. All previous service history would be entered by them.
After MUCH chasing after them and failings on their part to contact me, I finally have the book.
According to VW Servicing Intervals my car would have to follow this schedule:
Oil change service due February 2005
Inspection service due February 2006 including an oil change service
ACTUAL service history
Oil change service June 2006
They are trying to argue that this IS a full service history which it clearly is not. I now have a car with an outstanding Inspection Service due and a partial service history (which, of course, reduces the resale value of my car)
I have asked them to pay for the service at a VW dealership of my choice and to consider financial redress for the loss of market value on my car. Awaiting response.
Any ideas as to where I could/should go next? Or, am I following the right track so far?

Hello,
Just offering encouragement really, what you are asking sounds entirely reasonable.0 -
i assume that the garage that supplied the car to you was not a vw dealer.if i were you i would contact your official vw dealership as they will have history on all uk supplied vehicles, that is assuming the car was supplied in the uk and was serviced by a vw dealer, they will also know exactly what should have been done and what actually has been.
i think you have been misled anyway but i doubt you will get anything more than a service out of them at most.i would be more interested in having my service book stamped up for when you sell in the future
i hope this helps a bit, like you i am a great believer in full service history. There are two sides to every story.

Volkswagen Customer Service are usually very helpful. Certainly think it is worth a phone call. They may be able to help. Also if you bought from VW dealer, I am sure they would be interested to find out their dealers are misleading people. Good luck.0

just a thought,
if the car has the long life service schedule it is quite possible it has only had one service my 2004 passat did not have its first service until 27,000 miles so it might depend on the mileage the beetle has done.also if the garage are trying to fob you off .any volkswagen dealer can give you a breakdown of when your car was serviced as long as it was done at a main dealer.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I thouht that it might have been long life servicing to, but the car would have been 2.5 years old at first service, and the limit on long life is 2 years, or dependant on mileage - whichever comes first. Another thought is that if the car was registered in Feb 04 then it would still have the balance of the VW warranty until Feb 07, however if the service schedule has not been followed then the warranty is now invalid.
If they offer you an afermarket warranty remember that they cover a lot less than the VW one would have.0
