    Why don't people go into any bookies and put a pound on the Irish lottery?
    For three numbers out of six you get £674 plus your pound back as opposed to £9 plus your pound back on the English lottery ( a tax on the stupid). The Irish lottery as less numbers too.

    For 4 numbers on the Irish one, well !

    Just a thought.

    knew a guy who only ever paid the irish lottery what I think puts people off is going in to the Bookies.Must admit even in my early 40's I feel uneasy being in there watching many lose there cash.

    I'm thinking of a number between 1 and 14,000,000. You get one guess per £1. Don't feel so lucky now do you!

    I remember running some simulations on lottery numbers, I think usually buying 1000 tickets a week for 1000 years generally won the jackpot once or twice. And was still a net loss. Glad I stopped playing the lottery, I'm about £500 better off than I would have been.

    Yeah, but if you get 1000 people to predict the results, then take the average of their answers, you'll predict all 6 numbers correctly. It makes perfect mathematical sense!
